Listening to Korla Pandit plays Music of the Exotic East, courtesy of a YouTube user who digitally recorded and posted the 1958 hi-fi L.P.. ...Ive seen old films and kinescopes of Pandit playing Hammond organ and piano on his T.V. show, but Ive never heard recordings of him playing a theater pipe organ before tonight. I thought a lot as I listened. ...Ill admit to wondering if John Roland Redd quite knew what he was doing (outside of paying the bills,) but as an unorthodox musician and undiscovered ethnic imposter, he certainly did create an inimitable, foreign-ish style. A little pretty and a little weird, this music will probably never get onto my daily playlist, but Ive found it interesting enough for tonight, and I think it definitely listens easier than most of the junk the radio is playing these days. :)
