Listening to former the Vice President, Hon. Gilbert Bukenya in a - TopicsExpress

Listening to former the Vice President, Hon. Gilbert Bukenya in a telephone interview at NBS Tv last night, I had a number of observations to make: a) That there is a clique in NRM that is driving the country to a destination that no any other person knows. The Bukenyas are just helping them fulfill their Mission; b) That Bukenya did not have real authority in practice by virtue of his constitutional mandate as a Vice President- he was just a spectator; c) Cabinet meetings are not participatory or do not entertain views of members-Ministers are just lectured and rubber stamp what the powers that be want; d) Bukenya is painting a picture that he is being discriminated or witch hunted by the so called clique in government who think they are more NRM than others thus his decision to contest for the highest office to fight the injustice; e) As a former V.P, Bukenya feels he is being disrespected by the state apparatus (by not giving him his due benefits while other retired public servants who are even junior to him are getting theirs); f) The former V.P sounded very disgruntled and thus has decided to take on the current Kampala Administration in the next election; g) Bukenya seems to have having no political home- he has not completely abandoned NRM or even joined any political party in opposition. The personal sentiments notwithstanding, Bukenya raised legitimate issues in the interview like abuse of human rights, corruption, and poor service delivery among others but he does not have the moral authority to advance such. The Million dollar question to him is: He was a vice president for 9 years when all these things were happening, what did he do to change the course of events?
