Listening to my mom and uncle talk about how much cotton they - TopicsExpress

Listening to my mom and uncle talk about how much cotton they picked as children in West Tennessee- the intolerable heat, the bugs, the blisters and cuts, the 7-foot sacks, sometimes picking 300 lbs. in a day... and all of this while dealing with the oppression of Jim Crow. Oh, but look at them now! Both have had highly successful careers and want for nothing in their old age because they were willing to see beyond the present circumstance, reach higher, dream bigger, fight for their education and work out their faith. Meanwhile, some of us are waiting for everything to fall in our laps. #myheroes #getaclue
