Listening to others conversations. I wasnt intentionally - TopicsExpress

Listening to others conversations. I wasnt intentionally eavesdropping, I was in the same room and they were talking loudly. There was a lady who met a guy who travels to all kinds of oil fields throughout the country and they had just met. I guess she works here at SCC and Oil field workers who come here to work on whatever they do only work and do their jobs and never get to actually know the land and animals in the environment. (okay not all, but most outsiders) It upset me because they were sarcastically talking about how beautiful it was up here, the oil rigs, the constant smoke stacks and how theres nothing up here. I just wanted to say, Then go back home, and quit taking the money with you, if u hate it so much then get out! She was complaining about how much she disliked it. YES the oils fields are UGLY. As a native who lives, hunts, gathers and travels the oceans and lands for FOOD, our land, winter or summer, is beautiful in my eyes forever. The snow the flatness of the tundra and the need for survival. Its soulful to me. I know the history and the hardships and what it took to survive and find food. We were nomadic as well as all the animals living u here. Its so VAST, so expansive, it needs to be that way. The animals have adapted, they migrate and are always on the move to find food and to sustain and produce and survive. taking more of the land makes less of them I say. I guess what outsiders think about SCC, is all they know, its their job and they think its shit, not actually getting to go out on the land to see all the beauty I see. I was watching ANWR videos of senators and congressmen talking about: There is nothing up here! (when they only were here for a day) and that its barren. Our lands are that way for a reason, thats why the arctic is the way God has made it. Wherever you live, and if you hear people talking about it negatively it would offend you too. Oh, its nothing, theres nothing there, it doesnt effect the wildlife all the activity, noise, exhaust what a crock of baloney. YES IT DOES, ITS JUST PLAIN UGLY and the constant pollutions is mind boggling that all around the world its happening. Its makes me sad. I care about the arctic and yes I live in ANWR, Barter Island is on the coast but I we have to travel 60+ sometimes 100+ miles for food, we travel all over east and west, north and south. Its out HOMELANDS and we need to travel farther and farther away for our food with all the activity in the oceans and skies. Its only getting bigger and more traffic is coming, our food is harder to find and food from the stores are EXPENSIVE! If i were to choose to live in BIG nice house with lots of fancy nice things,no thank you, Id live simple in a small cabin happy and untainted and away from the decays of society. The jungles and forrest have many animals who could hide and live densely but think bout caribou and other nomadic animals that have to fend and live on our lands, they have to travel far too, as we did long ago. I dont like drilling of any sort and i will always say go green, all natural, wind, water, solar, use whats available, why spend billions on fuels that only contaminate and destroy the earth, im afraid that the earth is already on the verge of dying and I wish for it to be here for my kids and my grandchildren :( I just get upset to hear that Go ahead and drill, its so big and theres nothing out there, look the animals love the activity, a bear cant tell the difference from a tree! Look at all them caribou, they love it Sigh, id say come up here and live and survive too and not just for a day and just because you flew over it thats its barren!!! Sorry just upset. Yes it is big but its my home too and i have an opinion. Sorry that conversation i overheard got me upset. Good night :)
