Listening to the Prime Minister speaking at the NDR, one should be amazed that he had mentioned the issue of established schools, schools which, as he said, are in several cases older than Singapore. Schools which have a rich history and many traditions. The short of it is that we should celebrate such richness and culture. Given what was said, one wonders if it would have made a difference to what has happened if it was said a month before. But speculation is speculation. The flow over the grapevine this past week was interesting. The Power that be has responded to one of recent past to state, that boxing will resume next year. While we do not doubt the words of family, one is curious as to what was said. But private conversations are that - private and not public. One can only hope that what was said in private, was not said to let this matter fallow. If one observes a swan on a placid lake one would naturally assume that the sawn was a graceful creature gliding across glass, yet a peek below the surface would show a furious peddle of the feet. Of what relevance is this to those of recent and not so recent past? Much has been brewing online over that past weeks. Stewing and simmering, on more than one front. Rumours were abound that those who serve were asked to put to rest that which had happened. If rumour was to be believed, and this is rumour, then one would wonder if those who serve were and are still walking on egg shells and glass barefooted in School. What was the saying when we were still studying? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned? Well, we of recent past have indeed scorned the answers offered and the silence that followed. Given how what has happened continued to simmer and stew, was the swan furiously peddling on the surface of the lake? One has no idea and one dares not commit to saying yes, though if an opinion was sought, one would probably suspect so. How does one lay to rest that which refuses to die? In this particular season of the Chinese calendar, one would imagine, very carefully. Sweeping the dust under the carpet only leaves the dust there. Would it not have been easier to just deal with the dust properly from the start? I am pretty sure those who have gone before us would agree.
