Listening to the Word: Messengers and our Message 2 Samuel - TopicsExpress

Listening to the Word: Messengers and our Message 2 Samuel 18:19, 27 “Now Ahimaaz son of Zadok said, ‘Let me run and take the news to the king that the Lord has delivered him from the hand of his enemies’…‘He’s a good man,’ the king said, ‘He comes with good news.’” The quality of the messenger affects people’s attitudes toward the message they are hearing. The gospel is good news. But good news delivered by depressed, negative messengers, invalidates our message. David understood that good news from the battle front would be delivered by “a good man.” What kind of expectations do people around us have regarding the news that we are communicating? In our information-saturated, media-driven culture today, what impact does the quality of the messenger have on our perception of the news? Jesus, thank you that you were/are both the messenger and the message. May my life line up with the good news you’ve given me to carry today.
