Listening to the Word: The Desert Road Deuteronomy - TopicsExpress

Listening to the Word: The Desert Road Deuteronomy 8:12-16 “…when you build fine houses and settle down…your silver and gold increase…then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. He led you through…the desert…to humble and to test you so that in the end it might go well with you.” God’s purpose is our transformation into his image as grateful, humble, worshiping servants of the Living God! Pride is the enemy of God’s purpose in our lives. The chapters in our lives when we are most vulnerable, most dependent on God are also the chapters with the potential for the greatest change and transformation. A desert journey would not be our choice; however, it’s where God’s greatest lessons are learned. God desires that we become aware of the wickedness and rebellion in our hearts, so that in humility we cry out to him for salvation. The desert road will bring us to that place. Why? So that ‘in the end’ it will go well with us. Father, thank you for your transforming work in me. The hard times are valuable because in the end it’s not about me, but about you.
