Listening to the analysis of the result of the Victorian election, - TopicsExpress

Listening to the analysis of the result of the Victorian election, I heard Mr Abbotts secretary say they would need to look at the marginal seats in Victoria and make sure they did not lose them in 2016! No concern about the governments actions to force the costs of public health and public schools back on to States - removing $8 billion over the next decade - that will lose so much because of the destruction of their manufacturing industries. And the refusal of this government to recognise the impact of climate change, being determined to undermine investment in renewable energy in Australia because coal is good for humanity. No expression of concern about the determination to punish the ABC with Mr Abbott now saying he wishes he had not made that promise - and the promise of no cuts to health and education - before that election. When I think of this Coalition government keeping the Royal Commission into union governance going almost up to the next election, even though the Commissioner only sought an extension until December 13th 2014, I know there must be at least $20 million that will go into that. That $20 million was what Mr Scott needed to make the connection the ABC needs to be in the digital world. We need not have lost the regional radio - Port Augusta is a case in point with a connection with Aboriginal people who come to that centre from their homes for medical treatment and dialysis since the NT refused to continue to make dialysis available to those from the APY Lands, even though Alice Springs is nearer than Port Augusta. Regional televsion last Friday showed just how much we are losing and Professor Fiona Stanleys attempt to speak for the Board did not help me. The ABC should never have been forced to make those decisions, decisions that harmed so much of the Continent, geographically and culturally a long way from Sydney. And Mr Abbotts bribe/threat that $3 billion would only go to Victoria if it built that toll road did not work. Look at the way he can throw around $3 billion in that way, while taking from our vital ABC $250 million after he has shut down our international ABC connection. And as for Barnacles. Read Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens. Discover the Circumlocution Office, run by the Barnacles, where a cut might easily become an efficiency dividend. One might see Mr Morrison as Mr Tite Barnacle and then there was Lord Decimus Barnacle who came to power determined to protect the private fish and loaf trade or what we might decide to call the coal industry. And there was such admiration among their fellow Barnacles for all Barnacle Governments [pp 454 - 457] But then Dickens cared about public education and the Barnacles cared only for themselves.
