Listening to this so makes me vividly recall the peaceful days I used to have. Going to learning commons everyday, meeting up with Siyuan Joseph Peng, Hal Ray, and often a bunch of others, just so that I could find the determination to finish my dissertation. The music really was soothing. It softened me. I became addicted to Chopin’s Nocturnes soon enough, that I could forget my favourite “Nodame” concertos all together. It became a dear friend, who truly understood my soul, inside out. Then, I moved to my friend Gennai’s house. Those days were truly blessings. No worries, no pressure. Probably some the most carefree days I’ve lived. I found myself feeling happy everyday, singing, talking to myself even more than before. All, with this music in the background. Maybe that was not who I really am. The music was only a way to escape. I know that I can’t just keep listening to the same music, as much as I can’t stay that way forever. But still, I’m thankful. The music reminds me of my friends, who shared a brief time with me, in the beautiful, calm, unwavering silence that lies within the notes of these Nocturnes. Thank you, my dear friends. You are all true friends to me.
