Little Button, our pretty calico barn kitty, has passed away. She came to Old Friends a stray, almost feral kitty. In time, she learned to trust Diane and Michael, who showed her kindness, concern and care. She was extremely shy, but volunteer and cat person extraordinaire, Bea could coax her out for a brief pat or two. Button had some health issues during her life, and Diane made certain she received the best vet care, yummy meals delivered by hand each night and above all, her mums reassuring voice. She often crept around the corner when she heard them coming into the barn, Michael calling jovially to her by name. Button, in the end, knew who her people were. Indeed, when she was found, it was Michael who buried her underneath the big shade tree near the cemetery, next the departed other kitties and my own dog, Vasilly, who was graciously allowed to be laid to rest there. I am so thankful for this. My hope is they are all scampering through fields of clover, and that the cats of Old Friends are keeping my wild Weimie dog in line...be at peace, dear four legged babies, we miss you and were blessed to be your family.
