Little Dannys first real day at school starts with an incredible adventure. He got up early. Washed his face. Brushed his teeth. Ate breakfast. Got his backpack. Hoped in the car and we took him to the bus stop. A bus arrives. We sit him in the front seat and sent him on his way. Less than a minute after the bus takes off, one of the parents says Do you know that bus goes to Sitting Bull? (Danny goes to Rio Vista). It would never occur to me that buses for two different schools would come to the same bus stop. Nevertheless, horror suddenly strikes the parents of a brand new kindergartner as we realize our son is going to the wrong school. A mad dash ensues as we make chase to recover our child from the wayward school bus. We encounter one of the universal mysteries as to how quickly a large yellow bus traveling at less than 35 mph could disappear without a trace. We give up the chase and make way to Sitting Bull Elementary. While on the way, we encounter every other bus heading to Sitting Bull with exception of the one that my son is on. We arrive at Sitting Bull and get stuck behind the drop off traffic, which I found ironic as I thought I should be in such traffic in front of my sons school. To my good fortune, I ran into some old friends who corralled up Danny and escorted him across the Sitting Bull campus. I watched my son mystified at this strange place that he was taken to. His first words to me was Daddy... I got on the wrong bus. We finally arrive at Rio Vista and drop Little Danny off. My wife Ha, who had been frantic through this whole adventure, was concerned about how he will get through lunch today. I told her after what happened with the buses this morning, lunch is going to be a piece of cake for him... I wonder what will happen tomorrow...
