Little Sermonette from a wretch like me. :-) :-) kb Personally I dont care for the words White or Black in reference to people. I have never seen a black person. Nor have I ever seen a white person. We are all somewhere in between. I realized this when I took my son to register him for his first day of school. This was in the last century but still it was recently enough that we should have moved beyond this question. First question was name. That was easy. Second question was age. That was easy too. He was five. Third question was color. I asked them what did they mean by color. The lady said; your son, what color is he? I said I wasnt sure but I would say fairly close to some kind of an off-peach color. The lady said no, he is white. I held up a piece of white paper next to my sons face and I told the lady that I wasnt real comfortable trusting my childs education to people who didnt even know the color wheel. But she was only doing something which government told her that she had to do, something that was very important. Generally speaking government can screw up a steel ball with a rubber hammer. To me, White is white: Black is black. We are ALL somewhere in between. Enough already about pigment. We have serious problems to worry about. Pigment shouldnt be high on the priority list. Pigment is just another common trait. We all have pigment. We all breath air. We all are human. Which means we all are flawed. Which means we all are mortal. From White to Black and every shade in between, we are all merely people here for a brief moment, much like a vapor. Sad but true, in just a moment, maybe two, we will all be gone. Let us strive to get along. :-) kb ps- I got into a little trouble up in Fayetteville once for answering a question about race. It was a multiple choice question about race. I circled Native American. I told them that I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. You cant get much more native then that. They said no, I was Caucasian. Well, blow me down. I aint never ever even been to Europe, much less to the Caucaus Mountains, and I know my parents havent been there neither, not together anyway, so I wasnt concieved there. I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. Conceived there too, I am almost 100% positive. I am a native american, I was born here. They just thought I was being a smart-ass and trying to get special treatment for claiming Native American status. And I thought I was thinking that I was just trying to be accurate. Much like the color question. Oh well, it must just be me. kb
