Little Something for the Membrane This Afternoon. To my students I recall the killings at Kent. Whispers search for meaning in the classroom: One shy voice remembers a song by Neil Young, “I read something, somewhere, . . .” another says. Perhaps they do not matter quite so much, the dead, the living have endured and what once was a nation’s horror, a nation’s curiosity, is now my own uncertainty, searching for words on a spring day.
