Ive probably most begun to understand this one within the realms of acting and singing. No. I lied. (See? just then, tried to speak from the heart) Im most learning this from parenting, its most readily accessible in my performing. Im either singing by the most efficient means, or Im trying to. Im either playing an action, or Im trying to by showing or pretending. Im either in the moment playing with James, or Im distracted by thoughts of important emails I might have, Im either being a good spouse, or Im trying to be (and with the latter usually also expecting to be noticed, appreciated and rewarded for the ACT of trying.) One of the most heart wrenching excuses I can imagine for failure is I tried. But: in case Yoda is a little harsh, this also spawns another quote from a real life Yoda figure in my life: Gerald Freedman, the man who taught me how to act, whose teaching philosophy was Try.
