Live: Diesel, LPG prices may go up Check out the latest breaking news stories, analysis and insights from India and across the world. in.news.yahoo/realtime/ 1:21 AM, Sept, 01, 2013 Petrol prices hiked by Rs 2.35 per litre; diesel to cost 50 paise more: In yet another shock to the common man, the government has decided to hike the price of petrol by a whopping Rs 2.35 per litre and that of diesel by 50 paise per litre. This is the sixth hike in fuel prices in the last three months and the current increase has been attributed to the fall in the value of the rupee vis-à-vis the dollar and due to rising international prices of crude oil following the Syrian crisis. The price hike came into effect from the midnight of Saturday. The Indian Oil Corporation said that it has been forced to hike the price of by 4 percent and diesel by 1.1 percent because a rupee has made import of fuel very costly. Petrol price in Delhi will go up by Rs 2.83 to Rs 74.10 per litre, while it will cost Rs 81.57 per litre in Mumbai as against Rs 78.61 currently, said a PTI report. Diesel price in Delhi has been hiked by 57 paise to Rs 51.97 per litre, while it will cost Rs 58.86 in Mumbai from tomorrow as compared to Rs 58.23 currently.
