Live Doppler7 HD is tracking a cold low pressure system that is bringing us the winds and a mix of rain and snow to southern California right now. The peak wind gusts in some areas have reached over 60 miles per hour so far knocking down trees and power lines. The strong winds have cleaned out the air as you see from our Exploratorium camera right now! It will remain gusty into tomorrow morning so that will prevent most areas from dropping below freezing. A breezy, sunny and cool afternoon is on tap for the last day of 2014. Once the winds relax, expect the winter chill to settle in with sub-freezing temperatures Thursday morning! A Freeze Watch covers most of the Bay Area and Monterey Bay late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Make sure to bring in your frost sensitive plants or cover them and do not forget about your adorable pets. We are expecting the coldest readings of the season so far on the first day of 2015! You will need to pack on the layers when you head out to ring in the New Year because it is going to be very cold outside!
