Live Positively Success Habit #7 : Always go the extra mile One of the most important principles of success is developing the habit to go the extra mile. ~ Napoleon Hill Going the extra mile consistently is what separates high-achievers from those struggling to find their way. Simply put, it means doing something that others might be relunctant or not willing to do so. How we do anything is how we do everything. Advice on going the extra mile? Be authentic. Do it for YOU. That is your motivational factor. One thing is for sure, if you’re doing it for someone else you won’t have the willpower or energy to go the extra mile. You will be surprised how amazing it makes you feel, after just once. It’s contagious and addictive, in a positive why. It creates a sense of accomplishment that will encourage you to go the extra mile again and again and will start a powerful unstoppable force in motion. Indeed, it does! Remember how you feel when you managed to finish your 5km run? Then you want to go for the 10km run. Remember how you feel when you successfully bake your first chocolate cake? Then you want to challenge yourself to do the Sachertorte, that famous Vienna chocolate cake. Remember how you feel when you closed your first client and saw your commission being debited into your account? Then you want to close more on high net worth clients, so that you will get more commission. And you can perform Haj at younger age, or bring your family to travel around the world, or buy your parents a cosy house that they can retire happily and do gardening. Ultimately, your goals are your motivation. The law of inertia says an object at rest will stay at rest, unless acted upon just as an object in motion will stay in motion. Its time to take action. But how? Start small :) Do the little things right to build confidence and start building on top of the small successes. I will take example on my recent experience - the flood relief. First i started Projek Cakna as a small project in year 2013. Like every other individual, i wanted to help. Later, when i feel a bit more confident i started more shoutouts - from Projek Cakna Banjir to Projek Cakna Kembali ke Sekolah. I am doing it with more group of friends and also collaborating with other teams. And now i am doing Projek Cakna Sarung Bantal, and soon Projek Cakna Senyum - toys for children. Maybe one day i will be doing the Projek Cakna Kasih, a shelter disaster relief kit. Who knew, right? It is the same with your work and your daily routines. Do a few extra (meaningful) tasks every day that go beyond what your actual requirements are. This can mean just a few extra sales calls beyond your quota, or working for an extra 30 minutes before clocking out, or determine to have a go for that additional 1km jog. By putting in a little more effort than required, you can start getting the attention of your superiors or clients. Also you will get more tasks done during the workday and feel a new energizing sense of motivation and satisfaction. Do something that can motivate and energize you to take bigger risks and set off a series of events leading to major accomplishments! I hope this extra miles of writing today will get you pumped up and ready to tackle your day with full positive force [[^___^]] Yeah, you can do it bLeutiful People!!!
