Live and Local Radio to the Rescue! Heres another great example of how live and local radio can make a big difference in the community. Listeners trust their local radio station and the hosts that flip on the mic. Last Saturday night, in the small upstate New York city of Oneonta, vandals painted graffiti on the outfield fence and concession stand, damaged the public address system, and burned down the dugout at the community little league field. In all, $3,500 worth of damage was done. The Townsquare cluster of radio stations stepped up to the plate to take care of their field. And they hit it out of the park. In a two-hour morning simulcast WDOS-AM, WSRK-FM, and WZOZ-FM raised over $10,000. According to Market Manager George Wells the little league organization will come out of this bad situation a lot stronger. They will be able to repair the damage and allow the Little League to build dugouts for its minor league park as well. This community has always pulled together when it needs to. In addition to the cash donations, Munsons Building Supply and the Oneonta Home Depot are providing supplies at no charge and several local contractors have agreed to donate their time to help make the repairs. radioink/Article.asp?id=2748227&spid=24698
