Live from the Cincy NICU: Angela couldnt hold Susan today because our baby is just too pooped to party. The staff raised her oxygen levels quite a bit because they saw on xray yesterday, that one of Susans lungs is partially collapsed. Sounds bad. Not a huge alarm because she is so tiny at 2 lbs......When Susan was off the ventilator, she wasnt breathing deeply enough to expand her lungs. The higher ventilator settings will pump more air into her lungs, thereby helping to expand them. Susan will begin receiving some of her regular feeds today and less of the IV. It appears that her stomach is coming back down to size, which is great news. The docs were worried some air may have escaped from her GI track into her stomach. Not the case. Bullet dodged :) Were hoping the infection is on its way out and now she can begin gaining weight, breathing and moving forward. Overall, our Miracle Baby looks good today. So, our roller coaster today is on the straightaway. No hills. No scary turns. No corkscrews. Were still holding on tight but without any of that stomach in your throat feeling. #Day45 is an uneventful one. We kinda like em like that:) #OneMoreBreath
