Liverpool Finally Agree Deal for Moreno By Thomas Atzenhoffer | Aug 9, 2014 | 4,238 Reads After months of negotiating with La Liga side Sevilla, Liverpool and the Spanish side look to have come to terms over the transfer fee and move of young left back Alberto Moreno. Liverpool have been chasing the defender since the opening of the transfer window with Brendan Rodgers keen on signing the Spanish 22-year-old as another transfer for the future of the Reds defense. Sevilla were believed to have initially wanted £20 million for the player that Liverpool valued around £14 million and the two sides after nearly two months of debate and at one point complete breakdown of negotiations are said to have agreed on a deal worth £16 million. With the Reds set to return to the UEFA Champions League this coming campaign, Rodgers has been determined to increase the competition and depth of his squad at whatever cost and having now signed a third defensive player in his latest moves it looks like the defense is looking more solid than last season. Moreno is believed to be directly in contention with both Jon Flanagan and Jose Enrique for the first team spot at left back and his experience in both La Liga and Europe will be key to his success at Liverpool. The youngster made 29 appearances in La Liga last year as well as 14 appearances in Europe helping Sevilla to the UEFA Europa League title following a summer where he had been part of Spains U-21 European Championship winning side. Moreno is expected to make his switch to Merseyside following Sevillas appearance in the UEFA Super Cup in Cardiff this weekend.
