Liverpool will attempt to bring forward Divock Origi’s move to Anfield in the wake of Daniel Sturridge’s latest injury setback. Sturridge is facing another six weeks on the sidelines after scans revealed he suffered a thigh strain during a training session at Melwood. It leaves Brendan Rodgers desperately short of firepower as the Reds enter a critical stage of the campaign. Liverpool signed young Belgian striker Origi from Lille for £10million last summer but under the terms of the transfer they agreed to loan him back to the French outfit for the whole of this season. However, the Reds retain hope that Lille will consider allowing Origi to join them in January and they are willing to pay whatever it takes to make that happen. Agreeing to the loan spell was crucial to Liverpool successfully beating off competition from a host of top European clubs and securing a deal for Origi back in July. But since then, Lille have struggled and find themselves 14th in Ligue One and facing elimination from the Europa League. If their resolve to keep the 19-year-old until next summer weakens, then Liverpool will move swiftly to ensure Origi’s Anfield career begins early in the new year. It could cost Liverpool around an extra £3million.
