Liverpool will journey to White Hart Lane high on confidence this weekend ready to halt the 100 per cent record of early pacesetters Tottenham Hotspur, insists Steven Gerrard. Although its still firmly in its infancy, Spurs top the Barclays Premier League table on goal difference having picked up six points from their opening two matches. Gerrard acknowledges itll be a difficult contest in north London, but is insistent that confidence hasnt been dented by Mondays reversal at Manchester City. The captain said: Its going to be very tough. Tottenham away is a difficult match. Theyve started the season really well, have a new manager and have their confidence and belief back. Well have to perform at our maximum to get the result we want, but were going to go there for three points and were confident we can get them. Meanwhile, Gerrard believes Liverpools summer transfer business will bolster their challenge for success this term. The Reds sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona, but have added nine new players to the ranks. Gerrard said: The manager has strengthened in other areas and weve also recently signed Mario Balotelli, so hopefully the new signings along with everyone who has been here for a long time can help show everyone there is life after Luis and well try and fight to try and be successful without him.
