Liverpools defence has been their Achilles heel throughout the season. With Suarez scoring 31 goals to equal the goal-scoring record held by Alan Shearer (1995-96) and Cristiano Ronaldo (2007-08) in a 38 game Premier League season and Sturridge scoring 22, this offence has been the best ever in the 121-year history of Liverpool FC. Whats more, Suarez has surpassed Ronaldos record of best goal-to-game ratio as he has bettered Ronaldos 31 goals in 34 games by reaching the same number in 33 games. Considering the praiseworthy effort put in by the forwards and the midfielders, Liverpool rightfully deserved to win the league after a wait of 24 long years. Yet, their defence proved to be too porous for them to stay on track in the title challenge. Towards the finishing stages, Manchester City took advantage of this and went on to claim the title. On the bright side, Liverpool are back in the Champions League. They will have to work on their defensive vulnerability if they are to aim for greater heights. Overall, for a team that has risen from the seventh spot to the second, this has been a very good season for Liverpool. Oh, and I almost forgot; Congratulations to Manchester City on winning the 2013-14 English Premier League! You guys have earned it fair and square and with pride as the Champions of England this season! Cheers!
