Living Sword Devotionals Date: 20th December, 2014 Mary and Martha 6: One thing is needful! Text: Luke 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. A wonderful morning to us all in the name of the Lord! Its a glorious day! We are grateful for what the Lord has done and we rejoice alone in Him. Today, we want to proceed in the Word of the Lord and glorify His name alone. We had been considering the story of these two wonderful sisters and today we want to draw the curtain briefly. Look at the concluding part of the chapter: one thing in needful and this thing shall not be taken away from her! What a glorious thing that is! In life, one thing is needful that can never be taken away from us as long as we want to have it! The relationship with the Father through the Son via the Communion with the Holy Spirit! That is it! This singular thing is very needful! And it leads us to every other thing in life! We may lose all other things but this is certainly forever via the Holy Spirit which will not be taken from us! If we leave just this one thing, and go in chase of others, we may lose others, and not have the most precious thing as well! What a great dilemma of choice! Choosing one thing above all other things! Indeed it is a dilemma but wouldnt you rather choose one and be secured of others that others which are ephemeral and lose the most precious one? Just think of it! As the year runs out and you prepare for the new year, while making plans and drawing agendas, tell yourself: One thing is needful- Communion with God- and this I choose!
