Living in Claremont or any city close to the foothills of our local mountains has its pros...and cons. While we are able to enjoy all that nature has to offer, we must also remind ourselves that we share these cities with the native wildlife. Coyote attacks on pets have always been a concern for residence and an incredibly traumatic event for anyone who has had to endure the injuring or loss of a pet. We understand that fear, anger and frustration can be among the feelings experienced when discussing coyotes and the close proximity to our homes, but we feel that educating ourselves on how to keep our pets and families safe from one of natures beautiful creatures is the best way to prevent attacks. Below is an article from a couple of years ago, but the helpful tips on how to minimize the likelihood of a coyote attack and what to do if an attack happens. We hope that through a better understanding we can decrease the number of attacks and share this wonderful place with all our furry friends.
