Senzo Meyiwa did nothing to deserve provincial funeral: hater Gareth Cliff says CONTROVERSIAL radio host Gareth Cliff has outraged many on Twitter by questioning the decision to give murdered Orlando Pirates and Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa a provincial funeral. While the event was taking place at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, Cliff tweeted: Whos paying for this massive funeral for Senzo Meyiwa? The tweet was met with anger by many. Some accused him of racism and called him insensitive while others challenged his statement. Cliff responded by writing: Well, I never supported Pirates and Im sad hes gone but Messi wouldnt get this in Argentina and Senzo was no Messi. President Jacob Zuma announced on Friday that Meyiwa and Olympic silver medallist Mbulaeni Mulaudzi, who died in a car accident, would receive provincial funerals. Cliffs manager Rina Broomberg said: This is truly a reflection of the country. He simply asked the questions many people were wondering about. People get very emotional. When asked about his intentions, Broomberg said: He definitely didnt have bad intentions. With all the crime happening in this country we would just like to see the money go to fighting crime. Why are we not outraged by crime? That is what we should be outraged by.
