Liz, Jesse and I went to the Welcome Centre community dinner last - TopicsExpress

Liz, Jesse and I went to the Welcome Centre community dinner last night (actually there were about 20 from Adelaide West). Thanks for inviting us Ruth. We met many beautiful people - mostly from Iran - who had survived terrible things - war, loss of family, torture, and risky escapes. They have been designated refugees yet most were on visas that do not allow them to work or study in Australia. The phrase adding insult to injury is way to soft. Words like cruel and mean come to mind. Whats happened to compassion? What can we do as Christians to get it back? I cant remember who said that a nation (and individuals?) are measured by how they care for the those who have suffered/are suffering most. May the Holy Spirit rattle our cages!
