Liz asks: Hi! My daughter is 6 and in kindergarten. She currently has been clinically diagnosed with ADHD and ODD, which we use medication to help manage. Weve also been taking her to a behavioral therapist for the ADHD, ODD, some OCD tendencies, and sensory issues. We got a referral for neuropsychology testing for an ASD diagnosis because it was strongly suggested by pretty much everyone weve been working with. The neuropsychologist says shes fine. 😩 They wont give her an HFA diagnosis because her social skills are normal enough. Her psychiatrist and behavioral therapist are shocked they didnt diagnose her. In the words of the neuropsych doctor Shes too social for autism. I dont know where else to go or what to do. This neuropsych saw her for 5 hours on a medicated day. Every day is a struggle with her and without proper tools, I cant do anything to make our lives even infinitesimally better.
