Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre - Our new craft and jewellery showcases features silversmith Abigail Brown. Abigail is interested in the lines, folds and forms of the human body, how these are continually changing and the sensuous qualities that our bodies possess. She aims to represent the warmth and softness of flesh in a material that is by nature hard and cold, aiming to create a piece of silverware that is tactile, sensual, and invites interaction. This marriage of organic and structured form can be seen in her bowls and vessels, created by manipulating flat sheets or discs of silver, using a variety of metal and wooden hammers and stakes.
