Lobatse: The Vision I Envision; (Part 9) We have no excuse for below 100% voter registration. By: Gobe Taziba Extended Abstract: Each and every one of us can clearly define the troubles and tribulations of our cherished town and its noble residents. As a community we have done fairly well in articulating the type of town we want. Our greatest challenge and reason for economic stagnation has been the deficiency of a well-defined blueprint plus a road-map and drivers to deliver us there. In absence of these we tend to undermine key avenues that are central in delivering us to the Promised Land. It is no secret that custodians of every town’s socio-economic prosperity are the legislators (councilors and MP in our case). It is fundamentally through their skills, selflessness, innovation, sacrifices and commitment that we can experience a prosperous and flourishing Lobatse. It is through their efficient deliberate and informed acumen that an inclusive, sustainable and progressive environment can be created; benefiting the entire community. Prosperity can only be realized through economic and strategic use of limited resources for the benefit of all and not the few. The beauty of Democracy gives us yet a wonderful and rear opportunity to register and eventually elect legislators that we can entrust with among others developing a blueprint and road-map that will deliver us to the Promised Land. Sadly majority of us are reported to have not registered to vote as per the first registration report by the independent electoral commission (IEC). To me this comes as a surprise as it does not in any way depict the outstanding passion, dedication and indebtedness to the town’s economic development that i know every Lobatse citizen holds. Based on this reality I maintain: we have absolutely no excuse for not having 100% voter registration. (complete article to be published soon)
