Local Brewery Celebrates Craft Beer Week SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WGGB) — Sunday is the final day of craft beer week and one local brewery is celebrating by getting ready for some big improvements. The Westfield River Brewing Company is getting ready to move to a new location, at the old Chuck’s Steakhouse, on College Highway in Southwick. They say it’s an exciting time to be part of the local craft beer scene. “We have a great audience of people who love craft beer here in Western Mass. And we are really excited to bring craft beer. And the industry has really exploded in the last few years. You have to grow the market and that’s what we are looking to do here, bring a full tap house style brewery to Western Mass,” explained the company’s owner, Sergio Bonavita. The new brewery will feature a bar with twelve of the company’s beers, and guest taps with beers from other craft brewers. They’ll also begin growing their own hops behind the brewery, and will sell some to other brewers and home brewers. That brewery is expected to open in fall of 2014.
