Local Leaders Voice Continued Opposition to HB 5, Call for Veto From Canton to Chillicothe, officials call on Kasich to oppose HB 5 COLUMBUS - Today, Moving Ohio Forward was joined by local government officials - from Canton to Chillicothe - on a conference call to discuss the problems they have seen with HB 5, which is comprehensive municipal tax reform that just received the final approval of the General Assembly this week. Along with State Representative Mike Foley (D-Cleveland), who also serves as Moving Ohio Forward Board President, Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, Canton Mayor Jamie Healy, Gahanna Councilman Ryan Jolley and Chillicothe Auditor Luke Feeney each stated that they are very concerned that HB 5 significantly limits the ability individual municipalities have to dictate and enforce their own tax collection process at the local level, and could result in large revenue losses. A recent report by the think tank Innovation Ohio estimates that passage of House Bill 5 alone would cost communities $82 million a year in lost tax revenue, and when combined with previous cuts, the total impact on local services approaches nearly half a billion dollars annually.... us8.campaign-archive1/?u=959a27b82ed94812d15ca2eab&id=895ebf06eb&e=[UNIQID]
