Local News: The latest news on the LG Headquarters in Englewood Cliffs. LG’s proposed headquarters, if built as planned, would be the only high-rise north of the George Washington Bridge that would be visible over the treeline of the Palisades. Environmental and preservationist groups have cried foul, voicing concern that the building would undermine a century of efforts that saved the cliffs from development and quarrying and would open the door for future high-rise construction along the Palisades. Proponents, however, have argued that the new facility would benefit the surrounding community both economically and environmentally. The $300 million project is expected to generate an estimated 2,200 construction jobs. The LG workforce is also expected to increase to about 1,200 by 2017 from approximately 500 now.
