Local people are being invited to take part in a consultation on proposed changes to Broxburns Conservation Area boundary, which has been in place for around 40 years. The Conservation Area was originally designated to protect Broxburns unique architecture and heritage from a time when the area was the main distributor of shale oil in the whole of the UK. Pieces of that history still remain in Broxburn, such as the miners rows in New Holygate and many of the other buildings which have dates or names engraved on them.
