Locals accuse army of beating elderly in Bandipora It is a rumor, not factual: DC We are looking into the matter, will inquire: SP Srinagar, July 13 (KNS): Locals Sunday accused that forces barged into houses and beaten elderly to pulp in North Kashmir’s Bandipora area. According to the reports received by KNS, youth in the early morning hours assembled in groups to commemorate the anniversary of July 13, 1931 martyrs. The youth later pelted stones on the police deployment and later they were dispersed. Meanwhile the cavalcade of Commanding Officer of army passed through the area during which his vehicle was attacked by the stones. Protests took place in Bandipora during which some five persons have been injured. Youth of the area started hurling stones on the forces’ deployment, raising pro-freedom slogans. Later police to disperse the protesters, firing smoke shells in the air. The injured woman has been shifted to Srinagar for treatment while as the last reports came in, stone pelting and tear gas shelling was going on in the area.
