Lodge Fire is now measured at 2,700 acres as of the 7 p.m. briefing. There are 908 personnel on the firelines and the situations is 10 percent contained. Cost to date: $2.6 million and climbing. Fire continues burning in heavy timber and steep remote terrain. Most of the 17 threatened structures are in the Wilderness Horseshoe bend area of the S. Fork of the Eel River just north of the Wilderness lodge where fire crews are preparing to protect the structures by building defensive spaces. Back fires were set to remove vegetation between the two main fires. A spot fire continues to burn east of the S. Fork of the Eel River. The numbers of fire crews, helicopters, bulldozers and water tenders have increased since this morning. Please note the Laytonville community meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. tomorrow in Harwood Hall for an update.
