Loewen CEO Speaks At Manufacturers Summit (Loewen CEO Al Babiuk) Loewen, the Steinbach based window and door manufacturer, has faced its fair share of challenges in the past decade with the rise of the Canadian dollar as well as the housing recession in the US. CEO Al Babiuk was the Keynote Speaker at this years Southern Manitoba Manufacturers Summit put on by the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, held in Morden Thursday. Babiuk says these challenges meant Loewen Manufacturing had to pare back in the last decade, focus on lean manufacturing and come up with new products to help get them through the housing recession. But he adds, having met these challenges head on and surviving as a company has meant some positives came out of the situation. He explains, this really forced them to take a close look at their overall strategy. Babiuks keynote address on Thursday focused mainly on the challenges manufacturers can face and how to positively overcome them. He spoke to a crowd of over 180 manufacturing firm representatives. Babiuk has been with Loewen Manufacturing for the past eleven years, serving as CEO for the last four.
