Logan was a trooper throughout all his tests. He was poked, prodded and strapped down off and on for 6 hours. For any medical geeks he had an M3 nuclear medicine test, VCUG, CMG and renal ultrasound. The nuclear medicine test was very interesting. I learned all about radio-pharmaceuticals and nuclear isotopes from the technician. Ha! He really had some amazing nurses today. One that gave him a toy car and he even said car. This is huge as he really has no words. We saw our urologist who had some not so great results of his tests. His kidney reflux in his left side has gone from barely a stage 1 to stage 3. His urine in his bladder reflexes back up into his kidneys instead of going through the bladder and voided. We now have to straight catheterize him 4 times a day, he will take a medication called ditropan to relax his bladder 3 times a day and will take the antibiotic, Bactrim daily to prevent UTI and infection. A big change for us. We will go back in 3 months as he made need surgery and/or Botox injections into his bladder. I felt pretty defeated on the way out of the hospital. I was crying to myself. Just feeling angry at Spina Bifida. When I saw a boy, about Adams age in the lobby of the hospital. It appeared as though he may have cancer. He had a beautiful bald head, on an IV and in a wheelchair. His parents looked very tired. I realized that we dont have it so bad. We have struggles. I get sad, angry and frustrated with all my sweet boy must deal with. But - in this moment. It could be worse. My boy can make it through anything. So can our little family.
