Logical thinking In the age of austerity and drastic cuts that seem to have no mercy for the poorest in our society, and a government that has told us there is no option but cut cut cut public spending, lets just stop and think about this for a minute. If these cuts are so necessary and nothing or no one protected, then why would Westminster hold onto Scotland if is such a burden on UKs finances? I find it hard to believe that they would subsidise Scotland but yet cut funding to public services and the most venerable in our society. On the other hand if it was me sitting in London and trying to run the country while trying to keep international bankers happy, then I would do everything in my power to hold on to the most profitable part of the UK in order to subsidise the failing parts of it. It makes no business sense to hold on to Scotland if its such a drain on the rest of the uk but on the other hand it makes perfect sense to keep hold of Scotland if its subsidising other parts of the UK. If you had a chain of 4 hotels and all losing money, you would sell one if someone offered to buy it. On the other hand if you had 4 hotels , your finances where in bad shape and someone offered to buy the hotel that was making a profit and keeping your business afloat, would you sell it?
