Loksatta is here to stay Even though it was a short notice, it was important for me to attend todays Loksatta convention in Secunderabad. I never doubted the philosophy of LSP. In my opinion LSP is the most inclusive, mature and an honest party led by a committed leader. These things were never in doubt. The doubts however were on the leaders seriousness to build the party across the country, there were serious doubts as to whether the leaders are as serious as the cadre about building the party. With due respects to other good parties and good leaders, the cadre has always believed in a strong and unique identity for LSP. If the leaders do not have the same vision then the cadre will loose interest. We didnt have any major meeting post the general elections. Post our rather forgettable performance in the Andhra Assembly Elections, it was important for Dr. JP to make a public appearance and let the party know how it will move on. The signals are positive on that front. Dr. JP asserted that every breath of his is for Loksatta. He couldnt have said anything lesser. The party needs his guidance, passion and vision. Hes a rare individual whos a precious gem to any organisation. We are certainly very fortunate to have him amongst us. The new president Surendra Srivastava is serious about building the party and is willing to travel across the country. Much needed! We needed someone like him to complement Dr. JP. Theres sufficient enthusiasm in Andhra and Telangana LSP cadre. Thats a moral booster for other state units. We need to continue doing what we believe in. I sincerely believe that a great change can indeed be brought about by honest and effective coordination between all our members. Going forward, we request our supporters to stay with us and continue your support. I cant predict how long it will take for us to make significant inroads into electoral politics but if there is any truth in the statistics that our citizens are evolving and that they are becoming more aware, the recognition to LSP will not be due for too long. But theres a definite onus on us to see that we prepare qualified workforce to represent people. With a systematic approach to party building and by preparing a large pool of eligible representatives who are acceptable to the people at large, we can stake our claim on the most deserving grounds. But even with that, weve to prepare our society to think on broader and rational grounds. This is a wonderful assignment to be a part of.
