Lolas platelet count went up a fair amount after her tiny little transfusion. She was at 4,000 last nigh and is up to 44,000 this morning. (Normal is 150,000-400,000). She is still very low but that is obviously an improvement. She will not need another platelet transfusion today unless she starts to show symptoms of needing one such as bleeding without stopping. Lolas hemoglobin level is low today, so she will be getting a transfusion for that. I have not heard if that is in shortage yet or not, but if you are able to safely get to a donation site please go donate blood!! The children on the oncology floor needs frequent transfusions. Lola is going to be in the hospital until her ANC counts get up to 500. She is currently at 0. We are hoping they are up by the weekend. #lolafightscancer
