Lola’s Legacy: A Pink Letter Could Put an End to Puppy Mills Although Lola was from a puppy mill in the American Midwest, her story crosses our border and she could easily have been a victim of a Canadian puppy mill. Her legacy, a letter writing campaign on pink paper with pink envelopes, all mailed on the same day by thousands of supporters, has been carried out several times in the US. I think that we should do the same thing here to stop Canadian puppy mills. To be a part of Lola’s Legacy to end puppy mills, please join us in mailing your own pink letter to your MLA and MP on December 1, 2014. Thousands of pink envelopes landing on the desks of lawmakers cannot be ignored! Please share this post. Our voice will get really loud the more pink envelopes that rain down on the desks of the lawmakers. If you need to find out who your MLA or MP is, below are some links to government sites which will provide this information: BC https://leg.bc.ca/mla/ AB https://assembly.ab.ca/net/index.aspx?p=mla_home SK legassembly.sk.ca/mlas/ MB gov.mb.ca/hansard/members/mla_list_constituency.html ON ontla.on.ca/web/members/members_current.do?locale=en QC assnat.qc.ca/en/deputes/ NS nslegislature.ca/index.php/people/members/ PEI assembly.pe.ca/index.php3?number=1024555&lang=E NB gnb.ca/legis/index-e.asp NL assembly.nl.ca/members/contact-your-member.htm NU assembly.nu.ca/members/mla NT assembly.gov.nt.ca/meet-members YK legassembly.gov.yk.ca/contact.html MP’s in Canada parl.gc.ca/Parliamentarians/en/members Below is a sample letter you may use, or feel free to write your own: ************************************************************************ *(cut and paste her photo here) Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl. Having been born in a puppy mill with only one eye, she was discounted and discarded. National Mill Dog Rescue in Colorado picked her up when she was only 7 weeks old. She was then adopted and was set to live a wonderfully spoiled life, but over breeding at the puppy mill set a different fate in motion and at 6 months old, after weeks of seizures, little Lola died of a genetic brain disorder. The laws regarding the regulation of puppy mills in Canada allow this scenario to play out over and over without end. Please support legislation to end the INHUMANE practices of puppy mills and enforce stronger guidelines to ensure that all breeders are held accountable for the humane treatment of all the dogs in their care, puppies and parents alike. In many puppy mills, parents generally live a horrid life of neglect in cramped and dirty cages with little or no health care. Please help, we are counting on you. Her name was Lola. She was a showgirl. Signed, a registered voter
