Londoners Dale and Kevin both needed to get their lives back on - TopicsExpress

Londoners Dale and Kevin both needed to get their lives back on track after being hit with convictions. Dale, 47, and Kevin, 26, both of Waltham Forest, were referred to Working Links to help them overcome their barriers to work. Dale had a very good work history prior to his one and only conviction but was worried that it – along with his age – would hamper his chances of getting back on the payroll. Kevin had worked sporadically as a roofer but had been unemployed for three years following four convictions going back seven years. Both were open to any kind of work and were very eager to change their lives for the better. The duo really needed someone to believe in them, and help to find the right employer to give them a second chance. We provided just that, and also paid for new CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) cards and personal protective equipment so they could be ready for employment. With our help, they both secured jobs with Blue Sky Developments – Dale as Ground Maintenance Supervisor and Kevin working as part of the Ground Maintenance team, looking after local parks and surrounding grassland and community areas in Waltham Forest. Both are now happy in their new roles and Kevin now would like to pass on his knowledge and mentor young offenders to make sure they don’t make the mistakes he made.
