Londons most unusual hotel bedroom in the centre of Mayfair. A habitable sculpture, known as Habitat and designed by Antony Gormley - best known for his Angel of the North in Gateshead - is to be the centrepiece of the 80-bedroom hotel. The hotel will be operated on a 30-year lease by Chris Corbin and Jeremy King of Rex Restaurants Associates, which owns the Wolseley. Situated on Balderton Street, between Oxford Street and Grosvenor Square, the property - housed within an art deco building previously used as a car rental depot, will incorporate a landmark restaurant, conference facilities and a spa. Simon Williams, a partner in law firm Boodle Hatfields commercial property department, who acted for the developers Grosvenor, said the hotel would be a striking addition to Mayfair. The Anthony Gormley sculpture will be the West Ends most unusual bedroom, he added.
