Long Branch Police Department held a graduation ceremony on January 23, 2015 for several special police officers and their K-9 partners. Sergeant Robert Shamrock of the Long Branch PD was the instructor who trained the officers and their K-9 partners from the Allenhurst, Red Bank, Wall Township, Ocean Township (Ocean County), and Ocean County Sheriff’s Departments. It was a tough job for Sgt. Shamrock as he was breaking in the newest member of the Long Branch Police Department K-9 Unit; Hagan, a Belgian Malinois. The course, Canine Basic Patrol School, took four months to complete. The officers and K-9s will now start drug and bomb schools, which Sgt. Shamrock will also instruct.
