Long post, I apologise. Having applied for numerous English teaching positions in Vietnam I am fairly frustrated at the lack of any progress! Have had several interviews and interest has been expressed, but no immediate starts offered, or employers saying to come in for a chat when Im in Hanoi. The problem is I want to secure a position before flying out (currently in Scotland) so I can have the proper work permit/visa combination to work legally. Ive applied for positions posted in groups like this, a myriad of other ones found via TEFL databases online, and also contacted schools directly. Not keen to wait until August (?) for the start of a new school year (when I imagine more positions are available), but dont want to give up on Vietnam as my next teaching destination. Anyone have any further suggestions for routes to finding employment? Any avenues I should explore? I have a degree in English literature, 2+ years experience teaching English in South Korea, Scotland, and Romania, and a CertTESOL qualification. In light of the recent visa changes should I completely rule out the option of arriving in Vietnam on a tourist visa and then finding employment afterwards? Whats the crack with the business visa? Cheers!
