Long post, but please read this update about Lily Marie Vasquez Lopez. Discussing a lot of things with one of her doctors today. Sorry if I dont always respond to your messages or calls, or if we dont post many updates - please understand we are being bombarded daily with questions about how Lily is doing, and its gotten to be too much to handle responding to everyone. Also, there are times we simply do not wish to talk to anyone because things have gotten to be so difficult and stressful for us and we are having to face some important decisions. Lily is in a critical state due to this rotten fungus infection. Yesterday she had a 6 diameter of infected skin and fat removed from her left arm. She has 3 other areas also on her wrist and abdomen but they have not grown or changed like the one on her arm did. Doctors are awaiting lab results to determine what kind of fungus it is and if its the same fungus she has in her left lung. Fungus can take 2-3 weeks to grow in the lab and her lung sample was taken barely a week ago...we are now just in a wait and see situation to see what her immune system does and to see if the antifungal medicine is having any effect. Here is the most difficult thing for me to post: Lily has been given only a 5-10% chance to survive because of this infection. Her visitation is being limited because of her current state...PLEASE be aware that if anyone drives up here hoping to see Lily, there is no guarantee you will be allowed in to see her that day - it depends on her condition, if tests or procedures are being done, and also based on the doctors recommendations. With all that being said, Luis and I are NOT giving up hope and we KNOW if Lily were awake, she would NOT be throwing in the towel right now. The doctor told us we could stop further treatment now if Luis wanted to, but we are not ready to do that and neither are her doctors. They still believe she has a fighting chance. Continue praying and believing she will recover as Gods hands reach out to heal her body of this fungus. If there is any positive change in Lily I will IMMEDIATELY post that, otherwise her condition has not improved or changed much. Our love to all who have consistently been there for us and for Lily throughout these last few months
