Long post warning! Every 4 years, soccer fans and the sport itself are made a mockery of by people in the media who feel the need to publish a rebuttal to an argument that hasnt been made to them. Most soccer fans I know are well aware of and accept the fact that this isnt a major sport here in the US. We all know the criticisms and often agree with the major ones, such as diving/complaining. Heres my issue. Why do these people feel the need to attack the World Cup and its fans? Why do they feel the need to remind us that theyre not going to watch no matter how exciting the fans may think it is? Why are they so angry about it? I havent seen any pro soccer articles written explaining why haters of the sport are ignorant, fools, etc., however, Im sure these do exist outside of the mainstream. Its frustrating because these people act like were shoving soccer down their throats and forcing them to like it. Is this happening and I just dont know? Yes, the World Cup has been a talking point on social media and sports networks. Does it make people that upset that people are talking about it? If so, rather than taking to your blog about how awful all of this is, just change the channel. This topic has been bothering me for a while, but I read this article by Ann Coulter yesterday that put me over the top. It blows my mind that somebody could write this kind of stuff about a game and event that happens once every four years. Im posting the article so you can read it and make your own opinion.
