Long post warning :) Just wanted to give everyone an update on whats been going on over the past week. The effects of radiation have set in and Sydney has been very tired and just having a hard time breathing. This is not unexpected as she did have intensive radiation to both lungs. We have just been trying to keep her rested and very protective of her surroundings. It never fails when we do venture out someone near us sneezes! I think I have bionic ears as I hear every cough, sneeze and sniffle within a 100 yards. We havent had her counts checked but we will assume they may have dropped just as a side effect of radiation, so I am doing my best to not make her feel like she is living in a bubble and allow her to get out when she feels up for it. I had a long conversation with the Dr at the NCI and all of her scans were to be sent there last week for review. They require measurable disease in order to qualify for the trial. They cannot consider the areas that just received radiation which we know would have qualified her so now we wait for them to decide if other areas are measurable. I cannot begin to explain how I feel about this and trying to understand my mind and my heart makes me anxious, so we leave all of it in Gods hands knowing He has the perfect plan. We should hear from the drs next week as to the next step and I will update you all as I know. Please pray we will be comforted in whatever plan lies ahead in this journey towards a win for Sydney! I want to thank you all again for your continued prayers for our girl. She is truly an inspiration to us and she never ceases to amaze us with her strength which is undeniably a true gift and blessing from God. With all she has endured and she continues to press onward with a smile on her face. This leads me into my next prayer request. Most of you know how much Sydney loves pageants and has dreamed of participating in the Miss America Outstanding Teen organization. Well...she has decided to go for it and is registered to start the journey with a Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen preliminary pageant next weekend. As her mom my emotions are all over the place. I am thrilled with her perseverance and determination, I am nervous that she will feel weak and struggle, I am honored to be her Mom! I am beyond thankful for everyone who has helped over the past week in getting her prepared for this event. She will be participating in an interview, on stage introduction and question, talent, fitness and beauty. My prayer is that God will sustain her health, provide an appetite that will give her strength, allow thoughtful words to flow from her lips during the interview and on stage question, provide an ease of movement and endurance during talent and throughout the evening. Most of all I pray she will be a testimony of Gods mercy, His faithfulness and love. In God we trust...Sydney Stronger!!!
