(Long read, but this should make you smile... give him a share and find him his forever home) A day with Hogan, from his foster Hogan is currently in foster with me while waiting for his forever home due to UCAC being too full to keep him there. He has had his heartworm treatment and is now able to run and play and loves to set up a rutine. 9:30-10am Rise N Shine sleepy head.... Im sure to have a half a cup of coffee before I start ;) Hogan is staying in an indoor run. He is waiting at the gate... I open his door and he sits while I fumble to put the retractable leash on him (he likes room to run) He tries to be patient, but his tail is wagging and his head is tilted as if he is laughing because he knows he could do it faster. I get the leash on and he runs to the door and sitts looking back at me to hurry please. :O I open the door and outside he runs... a tree a bush.... a fence! What shall he pee on today? Ahhhh that feels better. What a good boy holding it all night and waiting for a walk! The pulling begins, running back to me and jumping up and down at my side can we run yet? How bout now? Look this way! So I am able to get myself awake enough to run. I live on several acres and have a stocked pond in the back. This is the dirrection he likes to go. A full jogging lap around the pond! Yes thats the way to start the day! We get back towards the house and there is his favorite park bench under a tree. I should say, my favorite bench... this is where I collapse to catch my breath after my jog for Hogan LOL. He runs ahead of me but comes to a stop at the bench and sits and waits for me to catch up. I take a seat, he lays down at my feet and looks around and takes a deep breath looking around. I give him a good boy pat on the head and he looks up at me and helps pull the lead to lift his lazy foster up out of the seat. Back to his run, he goes straight in and sits at his food and water bowl while I fill up both for his breakfast. He gives me a hug and kiss and then eats. 1:30pm Lunch rush.... Hogan takes it easy this walk Sometimes we walk around the barn or off around the garden. He will visit a couple of the trees to do his buisness and chase a butterfly or two then he will look for the sunniest spot he can find and PLOP down into the grass he goes rolling and rubbing and getting all the sun and grass he can on him LOL. He seems to take great enjoyment in this ritual of his. Thats fine, I will just sit in the grass and let him laze around for a few. He will then crawl into my lap and stretch and give kisses. He will do anthing for a belly rub and ear scratches ... he will wrap his paws around my arm in a bear hug to remind me I need to scratch his ears. Back to his run and he gets right in and waggs his tail letting me know he is satisfied with his day thus far. As long as he doesnt have to have a bath he is happy, he doesnt like baths, but he has survived them each time, although I do believe in the end I get more soaked than he does. ;) 8-8:30 pm .... Bed Time! We go out for our last walk of the day. He cant wait! He wants to go to the pond, he loves to have a job... this is his job, he needs a couple of little responsibillities to keep him going. First The Pond! He goes right to the barrel where the fish food is, he enjoys watching the cat fish. He will bark and paw the barrel, not wanting to allow me to forget this is his decission. I grab a coffee can of fish food and toss it in the pond.... he runs down to the water and taps the surface with his paw and lets out a couple barks (He thinks the fish are responding to his dinner call lol) Once he feels that all of the fish have obeyed him we go back towards the house, but first he must check on the cat. Where is she? Is she in the tree? Is she under the car? checking everywhere the cat finally appears, he goes up and gives her a sniff and a kiss and looks at me as if to say The Cat Is OK! My work is done! Into his run he goes, he waits... I fill his food and water, then I must straighten his blankets on his bed and set his toys on the floor next to his bed. He then jumps on the bed, then hops down and collects his toys one by one, and then lays them all neatly on his bed and gets back on his bed and lays down with his toys. Goodnight Hogan! He replys with a kiss! ♥ I would say from coming into UCAC as a wild growling dog till now, that he is surely come a LONG way!!! He is great and ready no doubt for his forever home. He loves laying around inside and plays nicely with his toys, he hasnt tore up a one yet ;) and is a cuddle bug but he also loves walks, runs playing and the great outdoors. If you think Hogan is the dog for you please contact UCAC and meet him (618) 833-4915. Hogan has been a UCAC since March, Looking for his forever home!
